Have you ever stood at the edge of a forest just before dusk? Where the path ahead blurs into shadow, and every step forward feels like a question: What’s waiting just beyond that bend?


This is where we are now.


Not in a forest, perhaps—but on the cusp of something just as mysterious. The world is shifting. A quiet revolution is rising, not with fire or thunder, but through code, cognition, and silicon breath. Artificial General Intelligence—AGI—no longer belongs to science fiction or speculative headlines. It is knocking gently at the door of our lives, asking to be let in.


And with it comes a silent unraveling.


Not just of industries or systems—but of self.




Rooms Are Changing


If the mind is a house, as I’ve often imagined it to be, then AGI is the stranger who rearranges the furniture overnight. The room where you once offered your skills—precisely written code, elegant reports, strategic plans—is being repurposed. The desk may remain, but the tools have changed. The air hums differently.


In this house of mind, some will feel as if the walls are closing in, while others will discover new doors they never noticed before.


As coaches, we are the lantern bearers in these shadowed hallways.


We do not walk ahead. We walk with.




The Invisible Loss


The first grief that AGI may bring won’t be spoken aloud in boardrooms or timelines—it will echo in the quiet spaces of identity.


If I’m no longer the expert in the room…”

“If my work can be done in seconds by something that doesn’t sleep or doubt…”


This is not just a shift in employment. It’s a deeper, more personal reckoning. A dissolving of self-definition.


And yet—this is precisely where coaching comes alive.

Not to fix. Not to advise. But to hold space while the old scaffolding falls away, and something truer begins to take shape.




Coaching as Alchemy

AGI may out-perform. But it cannot belong the way a human can.

It cannot love, long, dream, falter, rise again.


Coaching becomes a sacred act of reclamation—guiding clients back to the heartbeat beneath their roles. Helping them discover new questions:


  • What is being asked of me now?

  • What part of me still longs to be expressed?

  • Where is my voice most needed in this new world?




The Path Through the Unknown


In times of rapid transformation, we tend to look outward—for answers, templates, predictions.


But this era is different.


What’s needed now is not certainty—but capacity.

The ability to be with change. To stay in the discomfort. To listen more deeply. To adapt without abandoning ourselves.


This is what coaches can cultivate—in executives, in teams, in creatives and coders alike:

A strengthened inner core.

A flexible mind.

A rooted sense of self.


Not to resist the tide, but to surf it.

Not to fear the new tools, but to wield them with discernment and grace.


A New Invitation


The age of AGI does not signal the end of human work.

Work that machines can’t replicate—only inspire.


As coaches, we don’t just prepare people for this shift.

We prepare them to become artists of their own reinvention.


So let us open the doors of the inner house.
